Client-Centered Strength-Based

What is CCSB?

One of my foundational beliefs as a therapist is that my clients have strengths that have helped them get this far in life. Therefore, wouldn't it logically follow those same resources could be tapped into as a tool to help them move closer to thriving and enriching their lives? I believe the answer is yes, which is why the foundation of my therapeutic approach is based in the belief in a client-centered strength-based approach. I believe focusing on a person's strengths, interests, resources and capabilites can serve as a powerful catalyst toward'shelping them realize their fullest potential.

Here are some characteristics of a person-centered strength-based approach:

  • Collaboration: The individual and provider work together to develop treatment goals.
  • Empowerment: The individual feels supported to make their own decisions and take an active role in their care.
  • Strengths-based: The approach focuses on building upon the individual's strengths, interests, and abilities.
  • Person-centered: The individual is at the center of the process, and their needs, interests, and passions are the focus.
  • Personalized: The care plan is developed based on the individual's strengths and preferences.
  • Trust: A trusting relationship is built between the individual and their caregivers.
